Slovenia, located in the south of Central Europe, borders Italy to the west, Austria to the north, Hungary to the northeast, and Croatia to the south and southeast. In addition, it boasts a short coastline along the Adriatic Sea in the southwest.
Characterized by predominantly mountainous and wooded terrain, Slovenia covers an area of 20,271 square kilometers and has a population of 2.1 million (2,110,547 people).
The majority of the population, more than 80%, are Slovenians. The official language is Slovenian, a South Slavic language. Slovenia has a temperate continental climate, with the exception of the areas of the Slovenian coast and the Julian Alps.
