Germany, officially known as the Federal Republic of Germany, is a nation located in the western part of Central Europe.
It stands as the second-most populous country in Europe, surpassed only by Russia, and holds the distinction of being the most densely populated member state within the European Union.
Germany is geographically positioned between the Baltic and North seas to the north and the Alps to the south. Its 16 constituent states share borders with Denmark to the north, Poland and the Czech Republic to the east, and Austria and Switzerland to the south. To the west, Germany shares boundaries with France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
The capital city of the country is Berlin, which is also the most heavily populated city, while Frankfurt serves as its primary financial hub. The largest urban agglomeration in Germany is the Ruhr.
