Khangan, also known as Koh Phangan, is an island in the Gulf of Thailand, part of the province of Surat Thani, Thailand. He gained worldwide fame with the monthly “Full Moon Party“. This island is also attractive for backpackers and modern hippies.
Koh Phangan is part of the Koh Samui archipelago, which also includes two more large islands – Koh Samui and Koh Tao, as well as many smaller islands.
The landscape of the island is mostly mountainous, with much of it covered in rainforest. Several small waterfalls can be found here. Part of the island is used for agriculture and growing coconut plantations. The coastline is mostly rocky, but there are also coves and sandy beaches.
