A live webcam shows the Hollywood Sign in Los Angeles, California, in real time.
The Hollywood Sign is a symbol of the U.S. film industry and one of the most famous landmarks in Los Angeles. The sign consists of separate white letters, 13.7 meters tall and 9.3 to 11.8 meters wide, forming the word “HOLLYWOOD.” It is located in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles, on the southern slope of Mount Lee in the Hollywood Hills, at an elevation of 491 meters above sea level.
The sign first appeared on June 13, 1923, to advertise new residential developments in the second-largest city in the United States, and initially read “HOLLYWOODLAND.” The letters “LAND” were later removed, and the sign “HOLLYWOOD” became associated with the U.S. film industry, as many film studios are located in this area, and American actors reside here. In 1973, the Hollywood Sign was designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark.
There is an observation deck near the sign at the top of the hill, offering a beautiful aerial view of the Hollywood area of Los Angeles.
