A live webcam shows the cruiser “Aurora” in the city of St. Petersburg in real time. The cruiser “Aurora” is a first-class cruiser of the Baltic Fleet of the “Diana” type, a museum ship since 1956, and one of the oldest surviving steam warships in the world. Launched on May 11 (24), 1900, it participated in the Second Pacific Squadron campaign during the Russo-Japanese War and in naval battles in World War I. The cruiser “Aurora” is a symbol of the October Revolution – a blank shot from the cruiser signaled the start of the storming of the Winter Palace. On November 17, 1948, it was decommissioned and placed on permanent display near the Petrogradskaya Embankment at the source of the Bolshaya Neva River.
In 2014, the cruiser was towed for repairs to the repair dock of the Kronstadt Marine Plant of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Returned to its permanent location on July 16, 2016. An updated exhibition dedicated to the history of the Russian fleet was opened on the museum ship. From the deck of the “Aurora,” there is a beautiful view of the Neva River and the historical center of St. Petersburg. The cruiser “Aurora” is one of the landmarks of St. Petersburg and a cultural heritage site of Russia.
