Croatia, known as the Republic of Croatia officially is a nation situated in the intersecting region of Central and Southeast Europe.
Its entire coastline is along the Adriatic Sea. It shares land borders with Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, and Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro to the southeast. Additionally, it has a maritime boundary with Italy to the west and southwest.
The capital and largest city, Zagreb, constitutes a key administrative division of the country, along with twenty counties. Croatia encompasses an area of 56,594 square kilometers and is inhabited by a population of almost 3.9 million.
