The Koryaksky Volcano is located 35 kilometers north of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It is also known as Koryakskaya Sopka or Strelonaya Sopka. This is the largest volcano in the Avachinsky group, with a perfect cone shape, considered the most beautiful volcano in Kamchatka and a local natural attraction. Its height is about 3456 meters, slightly lower than Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano. The Koryaksky Volcano has two craters, one ancient and the other more recent.
The modern crater is located on the southwest slope of the volcano and has a diameter of 180-200 meters, with a depth of only 20-30 meters. The ancient crater is located on the northern slope of the volcano and is filled with a glacier.
