Founded in 1927, Varbergs Motorklubb has a long history of organizing various motor sports events. Initially, the club focused on outings for the elderly and family trips for its members, along with club competitions. In 1930, VMK held its first major competition, a sand race on Apelviksstrand.
The club’s first motocross event took place in 1950 at Sörsedammen, followed by another in 1952 at Anneberg, drawing a crowd of 12,000 spectators. Since then, VMK has consistently hosted World, European, and Swedish Championship rounds in both motocross and sidecar motocross.
Today, the Anneberg track features Folkrace, Minicross, and Motocross events. To comply with stricter environmental and noise regulations, the motocross track has been modified and is working to meet these new standards.
