The webcam provides a view of Genoa – an Italian city in the north of the country, the administrative center of the Liguria region and the corresponding territorial unit equated to a province.
This camera captures Italy’s largest seaport along with Cristoforo Columbus International Airport and the metro, all within Genoa. The historic center borders the old port, where beautiful palaces such as the Palazzi dei Rolli enjoy UNESCO status.
Interestingly, Genoa, with roots going back to the Ligurians and Romans in the 3rd century BC. BC, became an important trading center of the Mediterranean from the 11th century. Active participation in the Crusades turned the city into the great Genoese Republic with numerous colonies. However, in the 14th-16th centuries, after defeat in the war with Venice and changes in trade routes to the Atlantic Ocean, Genoa faced decline and loss of independence in 1797.
