Estonia, situated in Northern Europe along the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea, is bordered by the Gulf of Finland and the Gulf of Riga.
To the east, it shares a 324-kilometer border with Russia, and to the south, it borders Latvia for 333 kilometers. In the north, there is a maritime border with Finland in the Gulf of Finland, while the waters of the Baltic Sea surround it in the north and west.
The capital city is Tallinn, and the country covers an area of 45,227 square kilometers with a population of 1,365,884 inhabitants. Consequently, Estonia ranks as the 129th largest country globally in terms of land area (29th in Europe) and 158th in population (34th in Europe). It is the smallest among the Baltic states by these measurements.
Estonia has been a member of the United Nations since September 17, 1991, the European Union since May 1, 2004, NATO since March 29, 2004, the OECD since December 9, 2010, and the Council of Europe since 1993. It is also part of the Schengen zone and the Eurozone.
The official language spoken is Estonian, and the currency used is the euro.
