The San Diego Zoo is one of the largest and most advanced zoos in the world, located in San Diego in Balboa Park, 2 km northeast of downtown San Diego. The zoo covers about 40 hectares and is home to more than 12,000 animals representing more than 680 species.
Visitors can observe the animals by walking around the zoo or taking a special bus tour. The zoo also has a suspended cable car called the Skyfari, which allows visitors to get a bird’s eye view of the animals.
The animals in the zoo are divided into groups based on geography, each with its own microclimate.
