Watch the live broadcast of the border of the city of Ciudad Juarez via webcam. Formerly known as Paso del Norte and locally known as Juarez, this city is located in Mexico, in the northern part of the state of Chihuahua, and is the administrative center of the municipality of Juarez.
There are four international crossings connecting Ciudad Juarez and El Paso, including the Bridge of the Americas, Isleta-Zaragoza International Bridge, Paso del Norte and Stanton Street Bridge. There were 22,958,472 crossings in 2008, making Ciudad Juárez a key entry and exit point from central northern Mexico to the United States.
Ciudad Juarez is also a booming industrial center with more than 300 maquiladoras scattered throughout the city and surrounding areas. In 2007, The New York Times called it “the city that is absorbing more new industrial real estate space than any other city in North America.” And in 2007, FDi magazine awarded it the title of “city of the future.”
In the 2010s, Ciudad Juarez became known as the “Murder Capital of the World” due to the activities of the Juarez Cartel and the Barrio Azteca gang.
