SpaceX (SpaceX) is an American space technology company headquartered in Hawthorne, California, USA. Founded by Elon Musk in 2002, former PayPal shareholder and Tesla CEO. The main goal of the company is to reduce the cost of space flights with the subsequent exploration of Mars.
SpaceX has developed several types of launch vehicles, including the Falcon 1, Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy and Starship, with a reusable strategy. The company also created the Dragon and Dragon 2 spacecraft, which use Falcon 9 rockets to deliver cargo and astronauts to orbit, including the International Space Station.
To maintain quality control and reduce costs, SpaceX manufactures many components in-house, including the Merlin, Kestrel, Draco, and SuperDraco rocket engines that power the Falcon rockets and Dragon spacecraft.
Since 2015, SpaceX has also been involved in the Hyperloop project, a high-speed vacuum train.
SpaceX is also running the “Starlink” program to bring high-speed satellite internet to the entire planet. As of 2022, SpaceX is the largest satellite operator in the world.
