The webcam provides a view of Torriglia, a comune in the metropolitan city of Genoa in the Italian region of Liguria, located in the upper Trebbia valley, approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles) northeast of Genoa. Torriglia borders the following municipalities: Davana, Lorsica, Lumarzo, Moconesi, Montebruno, Montoggio, Neuron, Propata, Rondanina, Valbrevenna.
Historically, the city was probably founded during the Roman Empire. In the Middle Ages it was under the ownership of various feudal families, such as the Malaspins and the Fiesci, the latter who built a castle here. In subsequent years, it was part of the Genoese Republic and took part in conflicts between the Guelphs and Ghibellines. In 1815, Torriglia became part of the Kingdom of Sardinia and then, from 1861, of the unified Kingdom of Italy.
