Kilauea stays at Watch as lava continues

Kilauea Volcano is at Watch, and the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory says sporadic lava flows have continued from the north vent over the past day.
The camera at Kīlauea Volcano in Hawaii, USA looks toward the summit area, about 2 km away. Look for a plume in daylight. If lava is visible tonight, watch for a glow near the vent.
According to the Smithsonian Institution, Kilauea is a shield volcano on the southeast coast of the island of Hawaii, and it has been built by repeated lava flows over a long span of time. The summit caldera, Halemaumau crater, and the island's long rift zones are part of the story here. Kilauea is one of the five volcanoes that form the island of Hawaii.
