The city of Mogilev (also Belorusian: Magіlev) is situated in the east of Belarus and serves as both the administrative center of the Mogilev region and the Mogilev district.
During the period from the 17th to the 19th centuries, it was often called Mogilev-on-Dnieper or Mogilev provincial, to distinguish it from the city of Mogilev-on-Dniester which was renamed to Mogilev-Podolsky before 1923.
As of January 1st, 2023, 353,338 people were living in it.
