Luxembourg is the largest city and capital of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, located in the southern part of the country at an altitude of 334 meters above sea level at the confluence of two small rivers – the Alzette and the Petrus. The state of Luxembourg is situated in Western Europe and shares borders with Belgium, France, and Germany.
It is one of the smallest countries in the world, with Luxembourg deriving from the Old High German word “lucilinburch,” which translates to “small city.” The country’s area is only 2586.4 km², with a population of around 602 thousand people.
