Discover the Gwangan Bridge, also known as the Diamond Bridge, via live webcam. This impressive suspension bridge is located in Busan, South Korea, connecting the Haeundae area with the Suyeon area. The bridge’s road surface spans approximately 6,500 meters and its total length is approximately 7,420 meters, making it the second longest in the country after the Incheon Bridge.
Construction of this magnificent structure began in 1994 and was completed in December 2002 at a total cost of 789.9 billion won. The bridge was opened temporarily in September and October 2002 during the 2002 Asian Games, but it was not officially opened until January 2003.
The bridge made international news in February 2019 after a Russian cargo ship leaving the port of Busan bound for Vladivostok collided with the bridge. This led to the formation of a five-meter hole at the bottom of the bridge. However, no casualties were reported. It is believed that the ship’s captain may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident, which likely contributed to the incident.
