The webcam provides a live feed of the nuclear power plant in Japan where a man-made disaster occurred as a result of a powerful earthquake and tsunami. This incident took place on March 11, 2011, when the power system of the plant stopped working after the natural disasters.

All external sources of electricity and internal backup generators were shut down. As a result, the reactor cooling system was rendered inoperative, leading to overheating and explosions in units 1, 2, and 3 of the plant. Residents within a 40 km radius, including those from the city of Fukushima, were evacuated. The Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant accident significantly and negatively impacted the economy and environment of Japan as a whole.
