A live webcam shows the Cathedral Square in the city of Erfurt, Germany. Erfurt is an ancient city and the administrative center of the federal state of Thuringia, located on both banks of the Gera River in the center of Germany. The city has a rich history, dating back to 742, and is home to one of the oldest universities in Germany, founded in 1392 and known today as the University of Erfurt. The city covers an area of 270 km² and is home to over 214,000 people.

The main attraction of Erfurt is the Cathedral of St. Mary, also known as Erfurt Cathedral, built in the 8th century in Romanesque and Gothic styles, making it the oldest cathedral in Erfurt. Next to the cathedral is the Catholic Church of St. Severi, considered one of the most unusual Gothic churches in Germany due to its unique architecture. Together, the Cathedral of St. Mary and the Catholic Church of St. Severi form a unique architectural ensemble and are iconic landmarks of the city. During the night, they are beautifully illuminated with modern lighting.

This architectural ensemble is located on Cathedral Square (Domplatz) in the heart of the historic Altstadt district of Erfurt. The square hosts fairs and markets where visitors can purchase fresh, high-quality products from local farmers. Concerts, music festivals, and public events are also held on the square. Occasionally, a Ferris wheel is set up on Cathedral Square.
