Dobruska is a town located in the district of Rychnov nad Kneznou in the Kralovehradecky region of the Czech Republic, 150 km east of Prague and 32 km east of Hradec Kralove – the administrative center of the region. The first mentions of the city date back to 1320, in a document giving citizens the right to brew beer.
The Old Town is home to many historical and architectural monuments, and in 2003, the center of Dobruska was granted the status of a historical monument and a conservation area. The city’s attractions include: the Renaissance-style Town Hall, the Jewish Synagogue, the Deanery Church of St. Wenceslas, built from 1709 to 1724, the Renaissance-style Church of the Holy Spirit, the Old Czech Brewery of Dobruska, and much more. In the heart of the city lies the Main Square of Dobruska, dominated by the Plague Column (Marian Column) and the Town Hall with its clock tower.
