Florida, also known as Blooming Florida, is a state in the southeastern United States. Its capital is the city of Tallahassee.
It is located on the peninsula of the same name, between the Gulf of Mexico in the west and the Atlantic Ocean in the east, and is washed by the Strait of Florida from the south. It borders the states of Alabama and Georgia to the north. Its maritime boundaries run along the entire peninsula, capturing a small area to the north of it and the Florida Keys to the south.
The population is 22,244,823, making it the 3rd most populous US state after California and Texas.
The area of the territory is 170,304 km², which places it in 22nd place among the US states in terms of area.
The largest city is Jacksonville, while Miami, Tampa, and Orlando also stand out among the major cities.
