Belize, located in Central America, was known as British Honduras until June 1973.

It shares its northern border with Mexico and its western border with Guatemala.

To the east, Belize is embraced by the Caribbean Sea, making it the sole Central American country without a Pacific Ocean coastline.

Belize is one of only two Central American nations with access to just one of the world’s oceans; the other is El Salvador, which solely borders the Pacific Ocean.

As of 2021, Belize encompasses an area of 22,966 square kilometers and is inhabited by a population of 430,131 people.
