The live webcam is installed at the Brandenburg Gate, a neoclassical monument of the 18th century in Berlin.

This monument was erected by order of the King of Prussia, Frederick William II, after the suppression of popular unrest in the Netherlands and the restoration of Orange power. One of Germany’s most famous landmarks, this gate stands on the site of a former city gate that marked the beginning of the road from Berlin to the city of Brandenburg an der Havel, the capital of the Margraviate of Brandenburg.

They are located in the western part of the center of Berlin, at the intersection of Unter den Linden and Ebertstrasse, near Pariser Platz. Nearby, to the north, is the building of the Reichstag – the German parliament (Bundestag). The Brandenburg Gate serves as the monumental entrance to Unter den Linden, the avenue leading to the royal city palace of the Prussian monarchs and Berlin Cathedral.

Over the years, the Brandenburg Gate has witnessed important historical events and today stands not only as a symbol of the turbulent history of Germany and Europe, but also of European unity and peace.
