A live webcam shows the Market Square of the city of Altenburg in Germany. Altenburg is a small town in the federal state of Thuringia in central Germany, located 45 km south of Leipzig and 125 km west of Dresden.
Altenburg is a beautiful historic German town popular among tourists. Some of the attractions in Altenburg include the water tower (Turm der Wasserkunst), built in 1538 and considered an architectural monument, the twin towers “Rote Spitzen,” the Ducal Castle from the 11th to 17th centuries, the churches of St. Agnes and St. Bartholomew, and the Market Square (Marctplatz) with the old Renaissance-style town hall built from 1562 to 1564. This webcam is installed in the town hall and provides a view not only of the Market Square but also a panorama of the city of Altenburg.
