The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of New York and the USA, and the most famous statue in the country and the world. Its official name, “Liberty Enlightening the World,” translates to “Freedom Enlightening the World,” also known as the “symbol of freedom and democracy” and “Lady Liberty.”
The statue was a gift from the French citizens to celebrate the centennial of the American Revolution, located on Liberty Island, 3 km southwest of Lower Manhattan. The statue’s height from the island’s surface to the torch is 93 meters, weighing 27,000 tons, with a copper coating thickness of 2.5 mm.
