Tarragona is home to one of the largest and most important seaports in Spain. During the Roman Empire, Tarragona was known as Tarraco and served as the capital of the Roman province of Hispania Citerior. The city boasts numerous historical and architectural landmarks such as the Roman amphitheater, Roman aqueduct, Palace of the Roman governor, Roman forum, and the Cathedral of Santa Maria. Along the Tarragona coast, there is a viewing platform called the “Balcony of the Mediterranean,” offering a stunning view of the sea and the walls of the Roman Amphitheater.
