The Los Angeles International Airport (ICAO: KLAX, IATA: LAX) is the main airport in the city of Los Angeles, California. It is the second busiest airport in the United States and the fourth busiest in the world. Covering an area of 14 km², it serves over 87 million passengers annually. Situated on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, it is located 27.3 km (17 miles) south of Downtown Los Angeles.
The airport consists of 9 horseshoe-shaped terminals housing waiting areas, cafes and restaurants, shops and boutiques, duty-free zone, children’s rooms, indoor and outdoor parking lots, as well as a cargo terminal covering an area of 190,000 m² and a helipad. Los Angeles International Airport has four runways, the longest being 3685 m and the shortest 2720 m. There are numerous hotels and apartments near the airport. Buses FlyAway operate between Los Angeles and the airport, and the Aviation Station (green line) metro stop is nearby.
