Jilemnice is a small town located in the Liberec Region, almost at the northern tip of the Czech Republic, 59 km southeast of the city of Liberec – the administrative center of the region. Approximately 5,000 people live in Jilemnice, ranking it 211th in population size in the Czech Republic.
The first mentions of the town date back to 1356, in the past the town was called Starkenbach. Currently, Jilemnice consists of 3 districts: Grabachov, Javorek, and Jilemnice. The Main Square of Jilemnice is located in the very center of the town, surrounded by beautiful, not very tall Czech buildings. The square features a fountain, benches, and flower beds. The square is dominated by the facade of the historic town hall with a tall clock tower, housing the City Hall of Jilemnice.
