Chimbulak is one of the most popular and well-equipped ski resorts in Kazakhstan. It is located on the Zailiyskiy Alatau mountain range at an altitude of 2200 to 2500 meters above sea level, 7 km and 800 meters higher than the high mountain skating rink Medeu, and 34 km southeast of Almaty.
Chimbulak is highly popular due to its proximity to Almaty; the journey from the largest city in Kazakhstan to the resort takes about 30 minutes. The resort offers 18 ski slopes of varying difficulty levels, from easy “green” slopes to challenging “red” and “black” ones. The total length of all trails is 25 km, with a vertical drop of 900-1000 meters. There are slopes for beginners, a children’s slope, a snow park, mogul, slalom, and speed descent tracks.
Within the territory of the Chimbulak ski resort, there is a ski school, ski equipment rental, numerous restaurants and cafes, the Shymbulak resort hotel, the boutique hotel S.N.e.G, and the eco-hotel Tenir. The resort is serviced by about 10 cable cars, including the third-longest cable car in the world, approximately 4.5 km long, connecting the resort’s base station to the high mountain skating rink Medeu.
