Kenya, officially known as the Republic of Kenya, is a country located in East Africa. It was a colony of Great Britain and gained independence on December 12, 1963, also joining the Commonwealth of Nations.

Currently, Kenya is considered one of the most dynamically developing countries in East Africa.

Its name comes from Mount Kenya, known in the Kikuyu language as Kere Nyaga, which translates to “mountain” or “white mountain”.
