On Provincial Highway 18, at kilometer 52.8, you can find the entrance to the Eryangping trail, equipped with an observation deck.
The original trail is approximately 1150 meters long and the journey along it and back will take approximately 60 minutes of your time. In the past, this trail was just a gorge between two mountains – Xidingshan and Eryangpingshan, which the locals used in ancient times.
The modern version of the trail, recently expanded, is a wooden plank path that starts at the pavilion at the end of the original trail.
During the journey, you will pass through a bamboo forest, see interesting rock formations and even pass by a tea garden. This trail also offers great views of the Jiayi-Tainan plains, the Renyitang Dam and the Lantan reservoir. On a clear day, you can even see Dongshi and the Budai harbor area in the distance.
To the east, on the horizon, you will see the Yushan mountain ranges. In winter, there is an opportunity to see falling clouds and a sea of clouds. Beautiful sunsets attract many photographers who specially come here for photography.
