This island is located in the Gaafu Dhaalu region of Huvadhoo Atoll, Maldives, and has its own dialect of the Maldivian language, which differs significantly from the speech in the north and middle part of the Maldives.
Important Buddhist artifacts have been discovered on the island, including:
A ruined stupa called “Vaadhu Bodu Havitta”, located in the northeast of the island. Its diameter is about 90 meters and its height reaches 12 meters.
The hill known as “Vaadhu Kuda Havitta” is located in the northeast of the center of the island. Its diameter is about 40 meters and its height is 7 meters.
On the northwestern side of the island is an ancient cemetery known as “Tunnday Ziyaarai”.
The old mosque “Vaadhu Asari Miskikh” where Mohamed Jamaluddin (Vadhu Dhanna Kaleyfaanu) began his studies with the support of Vaadhu Katib (Mohammed Fadiyahthakuru).
