Perhaps the very heart of Budva is the ancient fortress of St. Mary ( Citadel). Once this fortress was considered the most impregnable on the entire coast of the Adriatic Sea. Images of the citadel can be found on all souvenir products in Montenegro.
In the summer months, theatrical productions are held here as part of the annual Grad Theater theater festival.
On the 1st floor of the citadel there is a restaurant, from its terrace there is a stunning view of the island of St. Nicholas, climbing a little higher up the stairs you will see the stunning landscape of the whole of Budva.
Entrance to the Citadel costs 3 euros per adult for children under 12 years old for free.
