Uzbekistan, officially known as the Republic of Uzbekistan, is a state in the central part of Central Asia. It is a neutral state with an area of 448,924 square kilometers. The country’s population, according to the State Statistics Committee as of December 1, 2022, is 36,006,008 people.

The capital of Uzbekistan is Tashkent. The official language throughout the territory is Uzbek, but in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, in addition to Uzbek, Karakalpak is also used. Uzbekistan was formed in 1924 as the Uzbek SSR within the USSR, and since 1991 it has been the independent Republic of Uzbekistan.

Neighbors of Uzbekistan: in the east – Kyrgyzstan; in the northeast, north and northwest – Kazakhstan; in the southwest and south – Turkmenistan; in the south – Afghanistan; in the southeast – Tajikistan.

Uzbekistan has access to the almost dry Aral Sea, however, to access the World Ocean it is necessary to cross the territory of at least two states, since all countries adjacent to Uzbekistan also do not have access to the World Ocean, which makes it one of two such countries in the world (along with with Liechtenstein).
