Originally called Vale do Bom Retiro, Leopoldo Rosenfeldt created Lago Negro (Black Lake) after a fire that destroyed much of the local vegetation. The shores of the lake are decorated with trees brought from the German Black Forest, which gave rise to its name.
Its deep waters are dark green, reflecting the pine trees that give way to bright azaleas in winter and blue hydrangeas in summer. Visitors can enjoy balmy strolls along its shores, but the most exciting sight is the pedal boats, which give the lake a picturesque and joyful atmosphere.
