The Mogren Fortress (another name for the Yaz battery) was built in 1860 by the Austro-Hungarians who ruled here at that time. The fortress was founded to protect the city of Budva from the western side.
The fortress participated in two wars, so it was rebuilt several times. The walls of the fortress and various bunkers have been preserved for us. But when you get to the fortress, you will see a truly gorgeous panorama of the city and a view of the island of St. Nicholas.
Entrance is free and the fortress is not guarded.
There are three ways to get to the fortress:
- By car on the way to Tivat to the sign “Tvrđava Mogren”.
- Walking from the city of Budva is also along the highway (the path will take about 40 minutes) .
- You can climb from Mogren 2 beach along the path through the forest, but be careful as the path is destroyed and overgrown more and more every year.
