Namibia, officially known as the Republic of Namibia, is situated in Southern Africa, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west. It shares land boundaries with Zambia and Angola to the north, Botswana to the east, and South Africa to the south and east.

Although it doesn't directly border Zimbabwe, a narrow stretch of the Botswanan right bank of the Zambezi River separates the two nations. Windhoek serves as both the capital and largest city of Namibia.

Known as the driest country in sub-Saharan Africa, Namibia has a long history of habitation, with the San, Damara, and Nama people occupying its lands since prehistoric times.

Bantu peoples began arriving around the 14th century as part of the Bantu expansion. Over time, Bantu groups, particularly the Ovambo, have become the predominant population. Today, with a population of 2.55 million, Namibia stands as one of the least densely populated countries globally.
