Webcams - Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia, officially known as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is the largest country on the Arabian Peninsula. It borders Jordan, Iraq, and Kuwait to the north, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates to the east, Oman to the southeast, and Yemen to the south. Saudi Arabia is bordered by the Persian Gulf in the northeast and the Red Sea in the west.
The country is often called the “Land of the Two Holy Mosques” because it is home to Mecca and Medina, the two main holy cities of Islam. In Arabic it is known as As-Su’udiya (ٱلسُّعُوْدِيَّة).
Saudi Arabia is one of only three states in the world named after a ruling dynasty (the Saudis), along with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (ruled by the Hashemite dynasty) and the Principality of Liechtenstein (ruled by the Princes von und zu Liechtenstein).
Thanks to its vast oil reserves, Saudi Arabia is a major member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). In 2015, it ranked first in the world in oil exports, and in 2017 – second in its production (after Russia). Oil exports account for 95% of exports and 75% of the country’s income.
