Kyrgyzstan, officially known as the Kyrgyz Republic, is in Central Asia and is located in the Tien Shan and Pamir-Alai mountain ranges. It borders with Kazakhstan in the north, Uzbekistan in the west, Tajikistan in the southwest and China in the east and southeast.
The capital of the country is Bishkek, the largest city with a population of about 1,053,900 people at the beginning of 2020. The second most populous city is Osh.
