Take a look at the Farallon Islands through a live webcam that allows you to observe this group of islands and sea cliffs in the Farallon Bay off the coast of San Francisco, California, USA.
These islands, sometimes known as the Devil’s Teeth Islands due to the dangerous underwater shoals in their vicinity, are 30 miles (48 km) from the Golden Gate and 20 miles (32 km) south of Point Reyes. On clear days they are visible from land. The islands are part of the City and County of San Francisco. The only inhabited area is on Southeast Farallon Island (SEFI), home to researchers from Point Blue Conservation Science and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The islands are closed to visitors.
The Farallon Islands National Wildlife Refuge is one of 63 national wildlife refuges designated as wilderness by Congress. Created in 1974, the Farallon Wilderness (Public Law 93-550) covers all but the Southeast Islands, totaling 141 acres (57 ha). Additionally, the waters surrounding the islands are protected as part of the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary.
