The webcam provides a view of Portofino, a small fishing town in the province of Genoa, famous for its picturesque Mediterranean port and part of the Italian Riviera.

From this camera you can see a city where only 382 people live (as of 2019). Saint George the Victorious, the patron saint of the commune, is sacred here and is venerated in the Church of San Giorgio, where relics brought from the Crusades are kept. The area in front of the church provides wonderful views.

The original church of San Giorgio, built in 1154 in Romanesque style, was completely reconstructed in Baroque style in the 17th century. However, during World War II it was destroyed by a bomb. In 1950, residents restored the church, preserving its historical appearance, including furniture.

Towering over the town is the Castello Braun, a former 16th-century fortress that previously protected the entrance to Portofino harbour. By the 19th century, the fortress had lost its military significance and was acquired by the British Consul in Genoa, Montagu Yates-Brown, who took ownership of the name of this magnificent castle.
