Piazza Grande in Gubbio, one of the most charming medieval towns, began its construction history in 1321. This space has been created in the city center through impressive redevelopment work, including reinforcing structures that support balcony structures and constructing buildings that appear slightly grander in comparison to the surrounding architecture.
An outstanding building, among them the Palace of the Console, rises above the cityscape and attracts attention from any vantage point. This palace is also connected to the “Plathea Communis” where the cathedral is located.
The square impresses with its picturesqueness and has its own orientation to the countryside, thanks to the panoramic terrace offering magnificent views.
Completion of the building came in 1482, but the arrival of the Dominio Gabrielli in 1350 marked the end of the period of communal autonomy and the cessation of construction work. For example, the Pretorio Palace remained unfinished.
