Santa Catalina Island is a rocky island covering an area of 194.19 km² located in the Pacific Ocean, 36 km southwest of the coast of Greater Los Angeles. The island is administratively part of Los Angeles County.
The island is named after Saint Catherine of Alexandria, it is 35 km long and 13 km wide. Mount Orizaba, at a height of 639 m, is the highest point on the island. Approximately 4,000 people live on the island, 90% of whom reside in the city of Avalon, situated on the shore of Avalon Bay on the northeast coast of the island.
Through the webcam, you can see the coastline of Avalon, Avalon Bay, as well as the Catalina Island Casino & Avalon Theater on the northern tip of the bay.
