Porvoo is a small city and municipality located in southern Finland, 50 km east of Helsinki. It is one of the oldest cities in Finland, with the first mentions dating back to the 14th century. The city’s name comes from a Swedish earth fortress located on the Porvoo River, which flows through the city.
The main square (Market Square) of Porvoo is situated in the heart of the Old Town, with the Old Town Hall built in 1764, now housing an art gallery and museum. The main square is one of the main attractions of Porvoo, hosting city fairs, including Christmas markets.
