On this webcam you can see such objects as the Black Church, the former Council House

Council Square is located in the historical center of the city of Brasov in Romania. She was granted the right to hold markets in 1520, but from 1364 she served as a place for regular weekly and annual fairs that attracted merchants from different parts of the country and even beyond. The square is surrounded by buildings, most of which date back to the 18th-19th centuries and are historical monuments.

In this square was a pillar of shame, which was used as a means of public humiliation and punishment. Witches were also put to shame here, but in 1688 Stefan Stenert, the head of the shoemaker’s guild, was executed on this site for his opposition to the Austrian army’s invasion of Brasov. Until 1892 there were two wells on the square.

The most significant building on the square is the former Council House (Casa Sfatului), built in 1420 and located in its center. Currently, this building houses the Brasov Historical Museum.

Around the main square is a picturesque Republic pedestrian street, as well as sites such as the Black Church, the former Council House, a cafe with indoor and outdoor terraces, an Orthodox church, the Casa Mureşenilor Museum, the Museum of Urban Civilization and the Hirscher House.
