The museum is located in the building of the Grgurinsky Palace built in the 18th century. On both sides there are two real bronze cannons of the 18th century.

The museum's exposition presents models of ancient sea vessels and boats (the oldest belong to the Roman period). There are also authentic ancient chronicles that tell the history of the city and ships, ship logs, navigation tools, weapons from ships. There is a separate exhibition dedicated to the First and Second World Wars.
