The Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) is an astronomical observatory under construction whose main instrument is a 39.3-meter-diameter segmented mirror telescope consisting of 798 hexagonal segments, each 1.4 meters in diameter.

This webcam is a high-definition static image that is updated at regular intervals.

Thanks to this mirror, the telescope is able to collect 15 times more light than any telescope existing today. It will also be equipped with a unique adaptive optical system of five mirrors, capable of compensating for turbulence in the Earth’s atmosphere. This will provide the ability to obtain images with greater detail than the Hubble orbital telescope.
