Warnemünde, located at the estuary of the Warnow River and on the Baltic Sea, is a district within the city of Rostock, Mecklenburg, Germany. This picturesque coastal area, as the name suggests, is renowned for its significance as one of the world’s busiest cruise ports.

Established around 1200, Warnemünde initially served as a small fishing village with limited influence on the region’s economic and cultural progress.

In 1323, it surrendered its independent status when it was acquired by the city of Rostock, a strategic move to ensure the city’s access to the Baltic Sea. It wasn’t until the 19th century that Warnemünde began its transformation into a prominent seaside resort. Presently, Warnemünde boasts a population of around 8,400 residents.
