Krakow – live webcam on main square

The Main Square in the Old Town of Kraków, situated in Lesser Poland, holds a central position within the city. Its origins trace back to the 13th century, and with its vast 3.79 hectares, it ranks as the largest medieval town square in Europe.

Recognized by the Project for Public Spaces (PPS), this square stands out as Europe’s finest public space. Its vibrant street life has played a pivotal role in Kraków’s acknowledgment as one of the world’s premier off-the-beaten-path destinations in 2016.

This expansive square is enclosed by historic townhouses (kamienice) and churches. At its core stands the Cloth Hall (Sukiennice), a structure renovated in the Renaissance style in 1555. Crowning the hall is an exquisite attic adorned with intricately carved masks.

On one side of the Cloth Hall is the Town Hall Tower, while on the other, you’ll find the 11th-century Church of St. Adalbert and the Adam Mickiewicz Monument erected in 1898. Overlooking the square are the Gothic towers of St. Mary’s Basilica (Kościół Mariacki). It’s worth noting that Kraków Main Square no longer hosts a town hall, as it hasn’t survived to the present day.
